Candy with a hint of peppermint flavouring that was how the first PEZ was in 1927. Even then there were candies in the familiar PEZ tablet form. Whilst the shape remained, the peppermint didn’t.
Today PEZ are available in delicious Strawberry, Lemon, Orange, Cherry and Cola flavors. A special mixture of sugar is mixed with the required flavoring, pressed into the correct shape and the little brick is then ready.
4.2 billion pieces of PEZ are consumed every year! Placed end to end, this quantity would be enough to circle the equator one and a half times!
